Throughout our lives, we are tasked with projects, science fairs, party planning, home improvement, and more. These projects build our skills in organization, leadership, critical, logical and rational high-level thinking.

The funny part is that we dive headfirst without any formalized project management training. Imagine how much more competent, efficient, and prudent you would be if you improved your basic project management skills.

Whether you intend on pursuing a career in project management or not, the benefits of taking a project management certification can positively impact your success in both your personal and professional life.

6 BENEFITS OF TAKING A PROJECT MANAGEMENT COURSE

1. Accomplish Goals Faster

Project management is essentially the practice of turning ideas into reality. Learning how the pros plan, budget, prioritize, and execute projects and do the same in your personal and professional life.

A goal without a plan can set you up for hours, weeks, or even months of busy work. However, if you approach your goals the same way a project manager would, you will be able to create actionable steps to achieving your goals while foreseeing challenges and prioritizing what really matters.

2. Gives You an Edge

Project management is an in-demand skill. Industries such as engineering, healthcare, financial services, technology, and law require people who have a high level of organizational and leadership skills. Skills that project managers are trained to develop. Having Project Management training under your belt will show that you have the tools and know-how to drive results, giving you an edge over the competition.

3. Improve The Quality of Work

Knowing how to take a project through to completion will not only make for a less stressful experience, but it will also improve the quality of your work and thus leave you more satisfied.

4. Learn to Budget

You may already know about the fundamentals of the triple constraints — no project can be fast, cheap, and good. If something is fast and cheap, it will likely be low in quality. If it’s cheap and good, it will likely be slow to complete. If something is good and fast, it will likely be expensive.

With project management training, you will be able to manage your resources better.

5. Meet More Deadlines

Statistics show that up to 40 percent of people have experienced some kind of financial loss due to procrastination.

Managing one project can be tricky enough, but managing multiple (which is likely the case) can sometimes throw a spanner in the works. Learning about the tools and frameworks the pros use to strategize their work will help you provide the most value to your projects and avoid procrastination.

6. Lead Better

Taking a project management course not only benefits you, but it also has the ability to benefit the people you lead. You will be better organized, giving your teammates a clearer path to success.

You will be better equipped to hone in on any roadblocks or risks and manage them before they snowball.

This course addresses the basic nature of managing general projects and does not limit its focus to one type of project such as construction projects. DO YOU WANT TO BE A PROJECT MANAGER?

Project management is not for everyone. I offten emphasize that it is not a technical job. It is about getting people to perform work that

must be done to meet the objectives of the project.

So when I am asked what I consider to be the most important attributes for project

managers, I always say that people skills are numbers one through three. Then, below that, comes everything else.

If you can deal with people, you can either learn to do everything else or delegate it to someone who can do it. But being able to do everything else without being good at dealing with people just won’t cut it.

Now the question is;

* Do you really want to be a project manager?

* Do you like having responsibility with very limited authority?

* Do you enjoy working on impossible deadlines, with limited resources and

unforgiving stakeholders?

* Are you, in other words, a bit masochistic?

If you are, then you will love being a project manager.
